Celebrity chef and Guinness World Record holder Hilda Baci is gearing up for another historic culinary feat, as she prepares to cook what she describes as the world’s largest pot of Nigerian jollof rice at Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos, on Friday.
Over 20,000 participants are expected at the event tagged “Gino World Jollof Festival with Hilda Baci.” In a video shared on Instagram on Thursday, Baci revealed the arrival of the giant cooking pot at the venue. Another clip on Snapchat showed her praying with her mother ahead of the much-anticipated attempt.
According to Baci, the festival, which begins at 9 a.m., is free to attend, with guests promised a taste of the mega jollof rice without charge. She disclosed that the giant pot, designed in collaboration with seasoning and culinary brand Gino, measures six metres wide and six metres tall. To achieve the record, she plans to use 250 bags of rice.
The event is expected to draw food lovers and supporters eager to witness another milestone from the 2023 Guinness World Record holder. Baci gained global recognition last year after completing a 100-hour cooking marathon in Lagos.
Her latest attempt, once successful, is likely to cement her reputation as one of Nigeria’s most daring culinary figures.
