Veteran Fuji musician General Kollington Ayinla has declared that Waka Queen Salawa Abeni remains his wife for life, despite their separation over three decades ago and her current relationship with another man.
In a candid interview with media personality Teju BabyFace, Kollington dismissed the idea that their bond had ended. “She is my wife till the end of life,” he said. “The person she is currently with is only loaning her.”
Kollington and Salawa Abeni were together for eight years before parting ways in 1990. They share three children. Reflecting on their breakup, Kollington noted that celebrity life attracts admirers and pressures from fans, suggesting these factors contributed to their split. However, he stressed that Salawa continues to support him and “always turns up” for him.
“She’s a celebrity. Just like how women chase after male musicians, the same way male fans chase after female stars. But a woman’s understanding is limited,” he said.
The interview has reignited public interest in the pair’s long-documented relationship and separation.
