Osun APC Bans Party Executives from Endorsing Governorship Aspirants Ahead of 2026 Election

Date:

OSOGBO — As political activities intensify ahead of the 2026 governorship election in Osun State, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has taken a firm step to rein in potential divisions by barring all executive members of the party from mobilising support or coordinating activities for any governorship aspirant.

The decision, announced on Saturday by the party’s spokesperson, Kola Olabisi, followed a stakeholders’ meeting convened by the state chairman, Tajudeen Lawal, in Osogbo. The meeting had in attendance reinstated local government chairmen and party leaders at the grassroots level.

According to Lawal, the move is aimed at instilling discipline, curbing factionalism, and ensuring internal peace within the party structure.

“Any executive member of our party at all the levels, be it at the unit, ward, local government, senatorial, and national, is disallowed from coordinating for any governorship aspirant,” Lawal declared.

He lamented the rising tensions and altercations among party members over support for various aspirants, warning that the situation could escalate into deeper disunity if unchecked.

Lawal stressed that the party had yet to release official guidelines for the governorship race, and assured that when the time comes, the process would be transparent and inclusive.

“The cacophonous noise is too deafening and causing avoidable disaffection within the party,” he said. “We would not be doing our party any good if we should close our eyes to the same.”

He urged all aspirants to caution their supporters, emphasizing that discipline and adherence to party rules would be crucial for the APC’s chances in the coming election.
