AC Milan Boost European Hopes with Comeback Win Over Bologna

Date:

BOLOGNA – AC Milan revived their push for European football next season with a 3-1 comeback victory over Bologna in Serie A on Friday, serving as a confidence boost ahead of next week’s Italian Cup final.

Riccardo Orsolini gave Bologna the lead early in the second half with his 13th goal of the season. However, Milan responded emphatically. Santiago Gimenez netted twice and Christian Pulisic added another to seal the Rossoneri’s third straight league win.

The result moved Milan up to eighth place, now just three points behind Juventus, Roma, and Lazio — all of whom are tied in fourth — with two matches remaining.

Juventus face Lazio on Saturday, while Roma visit Atalanta on Monday before hosting Milan next weekend in a crucial showdown.

Bologna, sitting in seventh and two points ahead of Milan, are still chasing back-to-back Champions League qualifications and will face Milan again in Wednesday’s Italian Cup final — their shot at a first major trophy in 51 years.

Meanwhile, Napoli and Inter Milan have already secured Champions League spots, leaving just two places up for grabs in the final stretch of the campaign.
