Ahead of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s visit to Abia State on May 23, 2025, the Ohanaeze Ndigbo group has called on Governor Alex Otti to endorse Tinubu for re-election in 2027, following the example of Anambra State Governor, Charles Soludo.
Deputy National President of the Ohanaeze faction, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, made the appeal on Tuesday in a statement. He said Otti’s support for Tinubu would demonstrate the Southeast’s commitment to the president’s leadership, particularly as the region begins to benefit from federal initiatives.
Isiguzoro commended Otti for completing the long-abandoned Port Harcourt Road project in Aba, describing it as a milestone for the state. He urged the governor to use the achievement as a platform to align with Tinubu’s national policies and vision.
“We earnestly urge our Governor, Alex Chioma Otti, to draw inspiration from the recent commendable actions of Anambra State’s Governor, Charles Soludo, who adopted Tinubu during his visit to Anambra,” the statement read.
Ohanaeze said such an endorsement would not only foster stronger ties with the federal government but also open the door for increased development and investment in the Southeast.
The group encouraged Abians and the broader Igbo community to give President Tinubu a warm welcome during his visit, portraying it as a symbol of unity and support for national development.
“Ohanaeze Ndigbo stands ready to champion a united front for the benefit of Abia State and the entire Igbo Nation,” Isiguzoro added.
