SDP Leader Prince Adewole Adebayo Blasts APC: Nigeria Has Taken 10 Steps Backward in 10 Years

Date:

Prince Adewole Adebayo, leader of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and its 2023 presidential candidate, has delivered a scathing critique of the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led federal government. In a recent interview, he asserted that under APC’s rule, Nigeria has regressed significantly over the past decade.

Adebayo challenged Nigerians to compare their current situation with that of ten years ago when APC replaced the PDP in power. He painted a grim picture of widespread poverty and infrastructural decay, citing the lack of basic services such as water supply and rampant destitution visible along the streets.

He dismissed President Bola Tinubu’s performance as abysmal and accused him of deceiving voters with false campaign promises. According to Adebayo, the SDP’s focus is on improving the welfare of the poor, unlike APC, which he accused of ignoring their plight.

Adebayo highlighted the impact of subsidy removals and fuel price hikes on everyday Nigerians who rely on informal transport means like okada and danfo. He described such policies as intensifying the suffering of the most vulnerable.

Drawing a vivid metaphor, he likened Nigerian politics to a nightclub where only insiders hear the “music” — a euphemism for the flow of money, contracts, and privileges enjoyed within government circles. He lamented that ordinary Nigerians remain excluded from these benefits despite the country’s abundant natural resources.

Calling for systemic change, Adebayo urged Nigerians to support SDP as the only party genuinely committed to eradicating poverty, insecurity, and corruption. He emphasized that SDP does not tolerate dishonesty or corruption and that membership alone does not absolve past misdeeds.

He concluded with a call for accountability and a clear focus on serving the people, distancing SDP from the conspiracies and failings of past regimes.
