Team Bayelsa Maintains Lead on Medals Table at National Sports Festival in Abeokuta

Team Bayelsa continues to dominate the ongoing National Sports Festival (NSF) in Abeokuta, Ogun State, maintaining its lead on the medals table four days into the competition.

According to the official medals tally released by the NSF technical team for the ‘Gateway Games 2024,’ Bayelsa has secured 19 gold, 10 silver, and eight bronze medals, holding a strong lead over other states.

Delta State has moved into second place with 16 gold, five silver, and nine bronze medals, while Rivers State currently occupies third position with six gold, three silver, and seven bronze medals.

Team Osun, which was second on day three, has slipped to fourth place with six gold and one silver medal. Edo State is fifth with four gold, 17 silver, and 21 bronze medals, followed closely by Lagos State, which has earned four gold, eight silver, and 12 bronze medals.

So far, a total of 256 medals have been awarded across participating states at the festival.

The National Sports Festival, organised biennially by the Federal Government, brings together athletes from all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The event aims to promote national unity, sportsmanship, and athletic excellence across Nigeria.
