Barcelona Coach Hansi Flick Praises Luis Diaz and Marcus Rashford Amid Transfer Speculation

Date:

Barcelona coach Hansi Flick has described Liverpool’s Luis Diaz and Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford as “fantastic players” amid reports that the Spanish club is interested in signing one of the Premier League stars to strengthen their left wing options.

Despite Raphinha’s impressive performances and recent contract extension until 2028, Barcelona is seeking additional depth in the position. Sporting director Deco also expressed admiration for both players earlier this week.

Speaking ahead of Barca’s final La Liga match against Athletic Bilbao, Flick said, “I like them and we will see what happens — but of course they are fantastic players.”

Rashford has struggled for game time at Manchester United and spent the latter half of the season on loan at Aston Villa, while Diaz is a regular starter for Liverpool and could cost around €80 million ($91 million), a substantial sum for financially challenged Barcelona.

Flick also addressed the potential departure of winger Ansu Fati, who is linked with a move to Ligue 1’s Monaco, stating, “It’s his decision.”

After securing a domestic treble this season, Flick renewed his Barca contract until 2027 but warned next season may be more challenging. He emphasized the need to improve and provide players with more options.
