Adeola Omotoso, the missing daughter of Nollywood veteran Jumoke George, has revealed that she was sold into prostitution in Mali.
The 41-year-old made this disclosure shortly after being rescued by the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM). Jumoke George had reported Adeola missing after she disappeared four years ago.
In an interview with actress Biola Bayo on the Talk to B podcast, Adeola shared how she was trafficked to Mali under false pretenses. She said someone offered to help her find better opportunities and trafficked her for N250,000.
Adeola explained, “I met someone who introduced traveling to Mali to me. She deceived me with a story about a pharmacy in Mali. I agreed without informing anyone. We travelled by road through Cotonou, Togo, Ghana, and other countries for four days. When I got to Bamako in Mali, I called the contact I was given. It was only when I got to her house that she told me she had bought me for N250,000 from my sister and that I would have to work to pay her 1.5 million CFA. She said I was there for prostitution.”
She added that she eventually escaped the brothel after securing a job with a food vendor.
