FCT Police Rescue One Kidnap Victim in Kubwa, Search Ongoing for Second Abductee

Date:

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has confirmed the rescue of one of two persons abducted during a violent attack in the early hours of Monday at Byazhin, a community in Kubwa, Abuja.

According to a statement by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, the rescue operation was carried out by anti-kidnapping operatives working in collaboration with the Nigerian Army and local vigilante groups. A coordinated manhunt is currently underway to locate and rescue the second victim.

The incident occurred around 1 a.m. on Monday, May 26, 2025, when armed attackers stormed Grow Homes Estate in Kuchibuyi village, Byazhin, after breaching the estate’s rear perimeter fence.

“Upon swift deployment to the scene, it was discovered that the armed attackers had breached the estate through the rear perimeter fence and forcefully abducted two victims,” SP Adeh stated.

She explained that police officers stationed nearby responded immediately and engaged the attackers in a fierce gun duel lasting about 40 minutes. During the exchange, one of the kidnapped victims, identified as Chinyere Joe, was successfully rescued. However, the assailants escaped with the second victim.

The Police Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit, alongside the Army and other security agencies, has since launched an aggressive search-and-rescue mission to apprehend the culprits and secure the release of the second abductee.

Residents have been urged to remain alert and assist security forces by reporting suspicious movements or incidents. The FCT Police provided emergency contact numbers for the public to report emergencies:
08032003913, 08028940883, and 07057337653.
