Wabara Hails Tinubu, Wike for Unsealing PDP Headquarters in Abuja

Date:

UMUAHIA – Former Senate President and Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Adolphus Wabara, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, for their swift intervention in the unsealing of the PDP National Secretariat in Abuja.

The party’s headquarters, Wadata Plaza, located in Wuse Zone 5, was sealed on Monday by officials of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCDA) over alleged non-payment of ground rents. Several other properties were also affected in the sweeping enforcement exercise.

However, following appeals from PDP elders and mounting public criticism, President Tinubu and Minister Wike stepped in, ordering a halt to further enforcement. Tinubu subsequently granted affected property owners a 14-day grace period to resolve the matter with the FCDA.

The directive was confirmed in a statement released by the Director of Land Administration for the FCT, Chijoke Nwankwoeze.

Reacting to the development, Senator Wabara praised the President and the Minister for their maturity and responsiveness. He described their actions as a testament to the power of dialogue in resolving national issues.

“As the BoT Chairman of the PDP, I, most sincerely, appreciate the magnanimity and maturity of Mr President, as well as the Minister of FCT, in directing that the national secretariat of the main opposition party in the country be unsealed,” Wabara stated.

He noted that the move not only eased rising tensions but also preserved Nigeria’s democratic image before the international community.

Wabara further expressed hope that the PDP would amicably settle the issue with the FCDA within the 14-day window. He also appealed to the agency to show leniency towards affected property owners, citing the current harsh economic climate.

“This singular action has saved Nigeria’s image before the international community and doused the growing tension generated by the action of the FCDA,” he added.
