Nigerian singer Skales has denied claims that he divorced his wife, Precious Hassanity, because she mocked his music career online.
A viral post by an X user alleged that Skales said he ended the marriage after his wife joined online trolls to ridicule his work. The post quoted him as saying that a woman who does not support her husband’s hustle is not a good wife.
Skales responded via social media, stating that he never made such comments and condemned the report as false and unfair.
“This is really evil of you that you would cook up such a story. This is not fair. I have never made such a statement and this is false. Please stop spreading lies,” he wrote.
Skales married Precious in September 2021. In November 2022, he shared lyrics from an unreleased song that appeared to criticize her, hinting at tension in the marriage following the death of his mother.
At that time, he posted a message saying, “In all you do, make sure you don’t marry a heartless person. Pray for my mental health.”
Despite previous public conflict, Skales has made it clear that the current viral statement did not come from him and called on content creators to avoid spreading misinformation.
