House of Representatives Postpones Interactive Session with Rivers Sole Administrator

Date:

The House of Representatives ad-hoc committee on Rivers oversight has postponed its scheduled interactive session with the Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Retired Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas. The session was initially set for Thursday, but has been postponed indefinitely.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the committee had invited Ibas for an in-depth discussion regarding his activities in the state following President Bola Tinubu’s declaration of emergency rule. However, the meeting will now be rescheduled after a request for postponement was made by Ibas.

House Spokesperson, Rep. Akin Rotimi, confirmed the postponement in a statement issued in Abuja on Thursday. Rotimi assured the public that the committee is working to fix a new date for the session. He emphasized that in the spirit of transparency and effective oversight, the committee will inform the public as soon as the rescheduled date is confirmed.

Earlier this week, the House constituted a 21-member ad-hoc committee, led by Rep. Julius Ihonvbere, to oversee the implementation of the emergency rule in Rivers State.
