Former Oyo State PDP Chairman and current Special Adviser on Political Affairs, Kunmi Mustapha, has declared that Governor Seyi Makinde possesses the bravery and leadership qualities required to run for Nigeria’s presidency in 2027.
In a statement marking the sixth anniversary of Makinde’s administration, Mustapha praised the governor’s contributions to Oyo State’s development and described him as a visionary leader comparable only to the late Obafemi Awolowo in Yorubaland.
He argued that despite the current state of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the opposition still has a clear path to reclaiming power in the next general elections.
“Makinde has distinguished himself as a brave man who exhibits uncommon leadership traits. There has not been any politician in Yorubaland, apart from Pa Obafemi Awolowo, who has had a vision for the development of the masses and put all his heart into actualizing those visions,” he said.
Highlighting Makinde’s achievements in education, urban renewal, health, infrastructure, agro-economy, and welfare for workers and vulnerable populations, Mustapha urged the governor to prepare for national leadership.
“Come rain or shine, we commit our loyalty to Governor Seyi Makinde. We urge him to start work towards 2027 because Nigerians are waiting for him to rescue them,” he added.
Mustapha also acknowledged efforts by PDP national leaders including Acting Chairman Umar Damagum, Deputy National Chairman (South) Taofeek Arapaja, and Chief Bode George, for their commitment to party unity.
