PSG, Inter Set for Champions League Final Showdown in Munich

Date:

Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Milan will face off on Saturday in the UEFA Champions League final at Bayern Munich’s Allianz Arena, with both clubs eyeing a historic triumph.

PSG are chasing their first Champions League title in what will be their second final since the Qatari takeover in 2011. Inter, meanwhile, are targeting a fourth crown, having last lifted the trophy in 2010.

Excitement is high in Paris, where around 40,000 fans will watch from giant screens at Parc des Princes. Over 5,000 police officers will be deployed in the city following previous unrest during PSG’s semi-final win over Arsenal.

The final brings a clash of football philosophies: PSG, with a young, attack-minded squad led by coach Luis Enrique, and Inter, an experienced side under Simone Inzaghi who favour a structured 3-5-2 system.

PSG have beaten four Premier League sides — Manchester City, Liverpool, Aston Villa, and Arsenal — en route to the final, with standout performances from Ousmane Dembele and goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma. They’ve also clinched a domestic double.

For Inter, Saturday’s final is a chance at redemption after narrowly losing to Manchester City in the 2023 final. Led by Lautaro Martinez and featuring a core group from that campaign, they overcame Bayern Munich and Barcelona to reach this stage.

This will be the first ever competitive meeting between PSG and Inter, with both clubs aiming to succeed Real Madrid as European champions.
