Stop Calling My Daughter ‘Duduke’ — Simi Tells Fans

Date:

Nigerian singer Simisola Kosoko, popularly known as Simi, has appealed to fans to stop referring to her daughter, Adejare, as “Duduke.”

The nickname emerged after Simi released her hit song Duduke in 2020, a heartfelt track celebrating her pregnancy. Following the birth of her daughter with fellow artist Adekunle Gold in June 2020, fans began calling the child “Duduke.”

However, in a recent interview with VJ Adams, Simi clarified that the term was simply an onomatopoeic expression used in the song to describe how her unborn baby made her heart beat.

“People call my daughter Duduke, which I don’t like. That’s not her name. It doesn’t even mean anything. Had it meant something good, I would have allowed it,” she said.

Simi added with a laugh, “Stop calling my child Duduke. But you know what? I get it, it’s coming from a good place, so I try not to react.”
