PDP Urges Tinubu to Prioritise Nigerians’ Welfare in Remaining Two Years

Date:

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has urged President Bola Tinubu to dedicate the remaining two years of his tenure to improving the welfare of Nigerians.

In its Eid-el-Kabir message issued on June 6, 2025, the party stressed the urgency of addressing the country’s mounting economic and security challenges.

The PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, said the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led administration must adopt accountability and discipline, ending what the party described as wasteful spending, exploitation, and manipulative governance.

While congratulating Nigerians on the Eid celebration, the PDP urged citizens to maintain faith in Allah’s kindness despite current hardships. The party, however, lamented the prevailing mood of despair in the country, describing Nigeria as “a large killing field” due to persistent attacks by terrorists, bandits, and armed gangs.

The opposition party also decried the economic difficulties faced by many citizens, blaming them on what it termed “reckless mismanagement of national resources” under the APC. It criticised the rising cost of fuel, electricity tariffs, and essential services, calling for urgent policy reforms to ease the burden on Nigerians.

In addition, the PDP condemned the government’s debt accumulation, alleging a lack of transparency and accountability in borrowing. It demanded the immediate recovery of over N30 trillion allegedly stolen by APC leaders through fraudulent oil deals and other financial malpractices.

The party said such recovered funds should be channelled into infrastructure development, revitalising the economy, and strengthening security agencies.

The PDP also called on President Tinubu to use the Eid-el-Kabir period as a time for national renewal and healing. It urged him to restore public trust by pursuing selfless leadership and implementing reforms that reflect compassion and prudence.

The party concluded by encouraging Nigerians not to lose hope, but to remain patriotic, support one another, and seek divine guidance to steer the nation forward.
