Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed the departure of head coach Ange Postecoglou, just weeks after he led the club to a historic UEFA Europa League victory.
The decision follows an internal performance review, with the club citing the need for change despite the emotional high of European success. Postecoglou, who joined Spurs from Celtic in 2023, guided the team to its first European trophy since 1984, defeating Athletic Bilbao in last month’s final.
However, the club’s statement noted concerns over domestic results, highlighting just 78 points from 66 league games and what it described as the team’s “worst-ever Premier League finish.”
Tottenham said the move was necessary to “compete on multiple fronts” going forward and emphasized that the decision was not taken lightly.
The club praised Postecoglou’s contribution to rebuilding the squad and reaffirmed that he will always be welcome at Tottenham. No successor has been named, with the club promising updates on the new head coach “in due course.”
