Famous media personality Yeni Kuti clashed with Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain Segun Sowunmi during a live appearance on TVC’s Your View over his recent visit to President Bola Tinubu.
Sowunmi, who previously served as spokesperson for PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar during the 2023 elections, is known for his strong criticism of President Tinubu. His visit over the weekend to the president’s Lagos residence sparked widespread backlash online.
During the Tuesday broadcast, Kuti questioned the intent behind the visit, asking, “You’ve had a lot of criticism for the president, now your tune seems to have changed (after the visit). So when is your own move? When are you leaving the PDP to join APC?”
An irritated Sowunmi responded sharply, saying, “Although I cannot see who is asking those questions, I didn’t come to your programme so you can try to be cheeky with me, stop that.”
Kuti then replied, “I can’t be cheeky with you because I’m sure that I’m older than you.”
Realizing the tension, Sowunmi backtracked, saying, “Oh sister oo! My Aunty! I take that back. Please don’t be angry.”
But Kuti fired back, “I’m not your aunty.”
The exchange, which quickly gained traction on social media, added fuel to the criticism surrounding Sowunmi’s visit, with many questioning his political loyalty.
