Nigerian comedian and on-air personality, Woli Arole, has sparked debate online after expressing disapproval of women who opt for surrogacy despite being medically fit to carry a pregnancy.
In a recent Instagram post, Arole stated that the ability to conceive and give birth naturally is a divine blessing and should not be dismissed for the sake of convenience or personal preference.
“It is a blessing for a woman to carry her baby in her womb, that is how God wants it,” he wrote. “Do not let wokeness derail you. Unless for medical reasons, she can adopt options like surrogacy, IVF, and all.”
He went on to condemn the notion of choosing surrogacy purely based on personal desire, adding, “You cannot say ‘my body, my decision, I do not feel like carrying a child, I want surrogacy.’ Nooooooo, your body is God’s temple.”
Arole’s comments have sparked mixed reactions online, with some supporting his traditional views on childbirth, while others argue that reproductive choices are personal and should be respected, especially in the modern age where diverse parenting paths exist.
