Popular on-air personality and rapper, Nnamdi Nwabasili, widely known as N6, has claimed that Nigeria is already at war, but many Nigerians are yet to come to terms with the reality.
The media personality made the statement in reaction to the worsening state of insecurity across the country, particularly referencing the recent tragedy in Yelwata, Guma Local Government Area of Benue State, where over 200 people were reportedly killed, sparking widespread outrage.
In a video message shared via his TikTok page, N6 argued that the war has been ongoing for years but remains largely unnoticed because it hasn’t fully penetrated urban centres.
“Let me tell you something, whether you want to accept it or not — Nigeria is at war; Nigerians just don’t know it yet,” he said.
“People watch too many movies, so they assume war looks like two armies lining up in a field. But in reality, it doesn’t happen like that.”
He continued, “The war has been going on since 2016/2017. The only reason people don’t realise is because it hasn’t reached Lagos, Abuja, and the state capitals. But ask the people in the villages — Nigeria is at war.”
N6 insisted that Nigerians are waiting for an official declaration of war to accept the grim reality, when in truth, the signs have long been evident in the violent attacks ravaging rural communities.
His remarks come amid increasing pressure on the government to tackle the rising insecurity, especially in the North-Central and North-West regions, where armed groups have continued to carry out deadly attacks on civilians.
