YPP’s Chukwuma, APC’s Ekwunife Slam Soludo Over Rising Insecurity in Anambra

Date:

AWKA – As political activities intensify ahead of the November 8, 2025, Anambra governorship election, the Young Progressive Party (YPP) candidate, Sir Paul Chukwuma, has blamed the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) for the worsening insecurity in the state.

Chukwuma, speaking to journalists in Awka on Monday, accused Governor Chukwuma Soludo of losing grip on security matters, resulting in persistent killings, kidnappings, and other violent crimes across the state.

The former National Auditor of the All Progressives Congress (APC) described APGA’s response to the security crisis as ineffective and slow. “For the past three years, the APGA-led administration has practically been sleeping, showing no real strategy to tackle the destruction of lives and property,” he said.

He dismissed the recent launch of the state’s security outfits, Operation Udo Ga Achi and Agunechemba, as politically driven and ineffective. “These initiatives are a scam, hurriedly introduced not out of genuine concern, but as a campaign gimmick,” Chukwuma alleged.

Echoing similar sentiments, APC deputy governorship candidate, Senator Uche Ekwunife, also raised concerns about the deteriorating security situation in the state. Speaking to reporters in Awka on Sunday, she faulted the APGA administration for failing to act swiftly to protect citizens.

“Security is the number one responsibility of any government and the bedrock for development,” Ekwunife said. “Sadly, the current government foot-dragged from the start, missing crucial opportunities to restore peace and stability.”

With both opposition candidates strongly criticising the Soludo administration, insecurity is emerging as a central issue in the upcoming Anambra governorship race.
