Liverpool are considering a move for Nottingham Forest defender Ola Aina amid speculation linking vice-captain Trent Alexander-Arnold with a possible transfer to Real Madrid.
According to CaughtOffside, the Reds have been keeping tabs on Aina, who has impressed with consistent performances for Forest in the Premier League this season. The 28-year-old could be available on a free transfer this summer, drawing interest from several top English clubs, including Chelsea, Newcastle United, and Tottenham Hotspur.
Aina, a product of the Chelsea Academy, has also reportedly attracted attention from Manchester City as a potential long-term successor to Kyle Walker.
Forest, however, are determined to keep the Nigerian international and are in advanced negotiations to extend his contract, which expires at the end of the current season. Aina joined the club from Torino in the summer of 2023 for €3.5 million.
So far this season, he has made 30 Premier League appearances, scoring twice and providing one assist before suffering a calf injury in a match against Manchester United earlier this month. He is expected to return before the campaign concludes.
Despite the injury setback, Aina has emerged as a vital player under manager Nuno Espírito Santo and was recently rated as the best ball-winner in defensive zones across Europe’s top five leagues, according to WhoScored.
