Soludo Presents Certificates of Recognition to Four Traditional Rulers in Anambra

AWKA — Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, has presented certificates of recognition to four newly approved traditional rulers, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to strengthening traditional institutions for grassroots development.

The ceremony, held at the Lighthouse Event Centre in Awka, featured the formal recognition of Igwe Chinonso Ezeokafor of Ikenga, HRM Engr. Sir Augustine Chinedum Emelobe (Ezeokpoko II of Oba), Igwe Sunday Emmanuel Udoji Ozoemena of Ifite Anam, and Igwe Ifeanyi Okonkwo of Ichi.

Governor Soludo congratulated the monarchs and urged them to embrace their roles beyond ceremonial duties. He charged them to serve as moral guides, uphold their community constitutions, support ethical reawakening campaigns, and actively involve youths in shaping the future.

“Your leadership will be pivotal in fostering unity, peace, and development. Work closely with your people and ensure that our core values are passed on to the next generation,” he stated.

He also underscored the relevance of traditional rulers in sustaining societal harmony and supporting government policies at the community level.

The Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Hon. Tony-Collins Nwabunwanne, praised the peaceful and transparent selection process of the new monarchs. He commended Governor Soludo for repositioning the traditional institution to align with modern governance goals.

Speaking on behalf of the newly recognized monarchs, Igwe Ozoemena of Ifite Anam thanked the Soludo administration for its developmental efforts and the ongoing reforms within the State Traditional Rulers Council. He described the reforms as vital for improving grassroots governance and strengthening the traditional leadership framework.

The well-attended ceremony drew members of the Anambra State Executive Council, traditional rulers including the Chairman of the State Traditional Rulers Council, Igwe Chidubem Iweka, and other dignitaries.
