Tensions flared in the latest episode of the Big Brother Naija Season 9 reunion as former housemate Nelly Mbonu accused Kassia Sule of being the reason her once-close friendship with Kellyrae — Kassia’s husband and winner of the season — came to an end.
During the emotionally charged segment, Nelly said she and Kellyrae were close friends during the show, particularly before the couple revealed their secret marriage to fellow housemates. However, that bond has since dissolved, and Nelly believes Kassia played a key role.
Speaking to host Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, Nelly said, “It never for once felt like me and Kellyrae had issues.” When asked when she noticed a change in his attitude, she pointed directly at Kassia, saying, “Obviously, it’s the wife.”
Kassia immediately pushed back, saying, “Hmm? You stopped talking to him. What do you mean by, ‘obviously, it’s the wife’?”
But Nelly stood her ground. “Can you shut up and let me speak?” she fired back. She went on to explain that her fallout with Kassia stemmed from what she described as a lie. According to Nelly, Kassia told her Onyeka had said something about her — a claim she later found out was based on Kassia’s personal assumptions rather than actual comments from Onyeka.
“You were so confident Onyeka told you that. You never told me it was your instincts,” Nelly said.
Defending herself, Kassia responded, “I said two things. Onyeka said the first one, the second one was my instincts. Maybe you didn’t understand.”
The exchange further exposed the deep rifts among the former housemates, as personal betrayals and broken trust continue to dominate the reunion episodes. The fallout between Nelly, Kassia, and Kellyrae adds another layer to the drama surrounding the show’s most talked-about season.
