Popular Nigerian skit maker and content creator, Carter Efe, has reportedly lost access to his Instagram and TikTok accounts, days after he insulted Afrobeat star Wizkid during a live session.
During a TikTok livestream on Tuesday, Carter Efe slammed the Grammy-winning artist, accusing him of being arrogant. “If Wizkid calls me ‘my G,’ that means Lion don get belle. E no fit happen. That boy too get pride, idiot,” he said.
The statement sparked outrage among Wizkid’s fanbase, known as Wizkid FC, who responded by threatening to report his social media accounts.
By Wednesday evening, Carter Efe confirmed via a series of posts on X that his Instagram account with 1.8 million followers had been taken down. Shortly after, he posted an emotional apology video revealing that his TikTok account had also been blocked.
“FC una collect my Instagram account of 1.8 million followers,” he lamented. “This is getting too much. TikTok account gone. FC una betrayed me. Abeg make una forgive me Wizkid FC. Wizkid abeg no vex, help me beg FC abeggggg. I’m in severe pain.”
The backlash and subsequent account takedowns have sparked debate online, with some sympathizing with the skit maker while others say he crossed the line with his comments about Wizkid.
As of the time of this report, there has been no official response from Wizkid or his team.
