Controversial social media influencer, Verydarkman, has drawn backlash following remarks he made describing Benue State as the “most underdeveloped” place he has ever visited.
In a viral video shared online after his recent trip to the state, he claimed, “Benue is still in the year 1940. It is the most underdeveloped state I have ever been to.”
He criticised the poor infrastructure and rising insecurity in the region, stressing that such conditions deter potential investors.
“Investors can’t come because of bad roads and insecurity,” he said.
The influencer added that efforts to drill a borehole in Yelwata, a local community, had stalled due to safety fears.
“I’m currently drilling a borehole in Yelwata, but the people can’t continue the work because they are afraid of being killed,” he stated.
His comments have since stirred mixed reactions across social media platforms, with some supporting his concerns and others accusing him of exaggeration.
