Former Big Brother Naija housemate, Anita, has addressed growing criticism over gifts received during her relationship with fellow ex-housemate, Topher, which began during their time on the reality show.
Taking to Snapchat, Anita confirmed the relationship had ended, stressing that it was based on genuine emotions and not a strategy to gain fan support or material benefits.
“We did give it a chance but, as with many things in life, some things work and some don’t,” she said. “If everything was aired, there would have been more clarity on this.”
She described allegations of deception and manipulation as false and hurtful, maintaining that she acted with integrity throughout the relationship.
“There was no deception, no manipulation, and certainly no performance for benefits,” Anita stated. “I’ve never asked for support under false pretences, and I deeply value the trust placed in me.”
Anita acknowledged the disappointment some fans may feel but reaffirmed her commitment to honesty and transparency.
“To those who’ve felt disappointed or misled, I want you to know: I get it. Your feelings are valid and matter to me,” she said.
Her response comes amid ongoing debate on social media over the authenticity of reality TV relationships and the role of fans in supporting couples beyond the show
