Top Opposition Leaders Gather at Yar’Adua Centre for ADC Unveiling

Date:

ABUJA — Leading opposition figures from across Nigeria’s political spectrum are currently gathering at the Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja for the rescheduled unveiling of the revamped African Democratic Congress (ADC).

The event, originally slated to hold earlier on Wednesday at a hotel in Asokoro, was abruptly relocated after the hotel management withdrew its facility despite receiving full payment.

Among the early arrivals at the new venue are prominent political heavyweights, including the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi; Federal Capital Territory Senator, Ireti Kingibe; former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai; Senator Dino Melaye; former Youth and Sports Minister, Solomon Dalong; media personality Dele Momodu; and former Benue State Governor, Gabriel Suswam.

Also present are ex-Rivers Governor, Rotimi Amaechi; former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Emeka Ihedioha; and retired Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar.

A former Senate President, David Mark, is expected to chair the high-profile political gathering, which is set to begin shortly.

The convergence of key political players from different affiliations is fueling speculation about a possible realignment of opposition forces ahead of the 2027 general elections.
