Veteran Nigerian actor, Tom Njemanze, has made a heartfelt appeal to the public for financial assistance as he battles prostate cancer.
In a video that went viral on Tuesday, Njemanze, who is currently undergoing treatment in hospital, called on well-meaning Nigerians to support his fight against the life-threatening illness. The video was shared on Instagram by filmmaker Stanley Ontop, who confirmed the actor’s diagnosis and emphasized the urgency of the situation.
“Hello guys, one of our Nollywood legends is sick and needs urgent surgery,” Ontop wrote. “Sir Tom Njamanze has been diagnosed with prostate cancer, and he needs your support to undergo surgery. Nothing is too small, fams. Help our legend live again.”
Njemanze is widely recognized for his roles in iconic Nollywood films such as Issakaba, Tokunboh, Atosa, Pounds and Dollars, Osuofia in London, Igbotic Love, and Brain Box. His talent and contributions have earned him a respected place in Nigeria’s film industry.
This development comes just four months after another veteran actor, John Amaefule, similarly sought public assistance to fund treatment for a partial stroke and cancer diagnosis — highlighting the increasing health and financial challenges facing many aging Nollywood stars.
Fans, colleagues, and members of the public have been urged to lend their support to Njemanze during this difficult time.
