Manchester United Open to Selling Onana for £30m Amid Transfer Interest

Date:

MANCHESTER — Manchester United have reportedly placed goalkeeper Andre Onana on the transfer market with a £30 million price tag, just one year after his high-profile move from Inter Milan.

According to the Daily Mail, the Premier League club is open to offloading the Cameroonian international, whom they signed last summer for £47.2 million, as they reshape the squad under new manager Ruben Amorim.

French Ligue 1 side AS Monaco made preliminary inquiries last month but were unwilling to match United’s valuation. Despite this, Monaco remain interested and are closely monitoring the situation, though a deal this summer appears unlikely.

Meanwhile, Saudi Pro League newcomers NEOM SC were also keen on Onana but ended their pursuit after the 28-year-old showed no intention of moving to the Middle East. NEOM have since secured the services of Polish goalkeeper Marcin Bulka from OGC Nice.

Despite the transfer speculation, Onana is expected to remain at Old Trafford for the upcoming season. He returned to training at Carrington on Monday, and sources indicate that Amorim, along with goalkeeping coach Jorge Vital, are pleased with his performance in pre-season preparations.

Onana endured a challenging debut campaign in England, facing criticism for several costly mistakes in both the Premier League and UEFA competitions. Nevertheless, United’s new management is reportedly focused on strengthening the team’s attacking options rather than making sweeping changes.

United are still open to a sale if their £30 million asking price is met. In the event of his departure, potential replacements include Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez and Atalanta’s Marco Carnesecchi, both of whom are said to be on INEOS’s radar.
