NEW YORK — Rap icon Nicki Minaj has publicly accused billionaire music mogul Jay-Z of owing her between $100 million and $200 million, in what she describes as a long-standing “karmic debt” related to Tidal equity payouts.
The ‘Anaconda’ rapper made the claims on her X (formerly Twitter) handle on Tuesday, stating that the Roc Nation boss should contact her to resolve the issue before the alleged debt increases.
“We’ve calculated about 100-200MM so far. #JayZ call me to settle this karmic debt. It’s only collecting more interest. You still in my Top 5 tho. Let’s get it nigga,” she posted.
Minaj has previously accused Jay-Z of shortchanging her during the sale of Tidal, the music streaming platform once co-owned by several top artistes. The service was sold in 2021 to Jack Dorsey’s Block, Inc. (formerly Square) for $297 million.
Though she has spoken out on the matter before, this is her most direct and public demand for compensation. As of the time of filing this report, Jay-Z has not issued a response.
The allegations have sparked debate among fans and industry insiders, with many awaiting clarification or a possible legal follow-up to Minaj’s claims.
