Chelsea sealed a dominant FIFA Club World Cup campaign with a 3-0 win over Paris Saint-Germain in the final, securing the trophy and a pair of major individual honours.
Despite PSG entering the final as favourites after their emphatic 4-0 semi-final win over Real Madrid, Chelsea stunned the European champions with a blistering first-half performance. Cole Palmer netted twice and assisted new signing Joao Pedro for the third, giving the Blues an unassailable lead before the break.
Palmer’s standout display throughout the tournament was recognised with the Player of the Tournament award. Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez, who kept three clean sheets, was awarded the Golden Glove for his solid performances.
Although PSG fell short in the final, their 19-year-old midfielder Desire Doue was named Young Player of the Tournament for his impressive performances across the competition.
Real Madrid’s Gonzalo Garcia walked away with the Golden Boot, finishing as the tournament’s top scorer with five goals.
