Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Burna Boy has publicly distanced himself from a meme coin bearing his name that has been circulating on social media platform X (formerly Twitter).
The Afro-fusion star took to Instagram to warn his fans against associating him with any form of cryptocurrency dealings, stating firmly that he does not participate in crypto-related ventures and considers them fraudulent.
“I don’t do any internet ‘coin’ business,” Burna Boy wrote. “I see it as fraud and I have no interest in any of that. So if you see anyone using my name for such, please disregard or report them.”
His statement comes amid the growing trend of celebrities being linked to digital currencies—often without their consent—as scammers attempt to exploit their fame to promote questionable projects.
Burna Boy’s stance serves as a caution to fans and the public, urging them to remain vigilant and not fall for schemes falsely associated with his brand.
