Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has appointed new caretaker committees to oversee its affairs in Bayelsa and Edo States, following deepening leadership crises in both states. The appointments, which will last for an initial period of three months, were ratified by the party’s South-South Zonal Working Committee (ZWC) during a meeting chaired by National Vice-Chairman (South-South), Dan Orbih.According to a statement by the Zonal Publicity Secretary, Etim Isong, the former executives in both states were dissolved due to alleged gross misconduct and constitutional violations that weakened the party’s structure.“In Edo, the decision was informed by the party’s poor performance in the last governorship election. We had to act in the best interest of the PDP after a comprehensive review,” Isong explained.Citing the PDP Constitution as amended in 2017, the ZWC said the move is fully aligned with the party’s legal framework and aims to restore effective leadership and cohesion.### New Bayelsa Caretaker Committee:- **Chairman**: George Turnah – **Deputy Chairman**: Tony Gabriel – **Secretary**: Ebilade Ekerefe – **Other key members**: Didi Werilaghebofa (Central VC), Andy Majors (East VC), Evelyn Odi (West VC), Biobelemoye Igoniwari (Treasurer), and Amain Oyeintariperedei (Auditor)### New Edo Caretaker Committee:- **Chairman**: Nosa Ogieva – **Deputy Chairman**: Chief Sunny Okomayin – **Secretary**: Hillary Otsu – **Other members**: Nosa Iseleomon (South VC), Ehisota Oriakhi (Central VC), Richard Ehimigbai (North VC), and Tes Sorae (Woman Leader)Dan Orbih urged the new leadership teams to focus on unity and reconciliation, stressing that discipline and internal harmony are crucial for the PDP’s success moving forward.
