Ayra Starr Becomes First African Artist to Earn Latin Diamond Certification

Date:

Nigerian music sensation Ayra Starr has made history as the first African artist to receive a Latin Diamond certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

The achievement comes through her global hit collaboration “Santa” with Latin stars Rvssian and Rauw Alejandro, which surpassed 35 million streams in the United States, earning it the prestigious Latin Diamond status.

With this milestone, Ayra Starr joins fellow Nigerian artist Rema, whose track “Bubalu” is certified Platinum, as the only African artists to be recognized by the RIAA in its Latin category.

“Santa” has also garnered significant international acclaim, earning multiple Platinum certifications in Spain and Mexico. The track topped Spain’s music chart and climbed to the No. 2 spot in Colombia, Ecuador, and parts of Central America.

Ayra Starr’s record-setting feat underscores her rising influence in the global music scene and marks a major moment for African representation in Latin pop markets.
