Arsenal Sign Noni Madueke from Chelsea for £52m

Date:

Arsenal have completed the signing of England winger Noni Madueke from Chelsea in a deal worth £52 million.

The Gunners will pay an initial £48.5 million, with an additional £3.5 million in performance-related add-ons. Madueke, 23, has signed a five-year deal and becomes Arsenal’s fourth summer signing after Kepa Arrizabalaga, Martin Zubimendi, and Christian Norgaard.

Primarily a right winger, Madueke is also effective on the left and is expected to bolster Arsenal’s attacking options. His arrival continues a growing trend of players switching between the two London rivals, with Madueke joining former Chelsea teammates Kepa, Raheem Sterling, Kai Havertz, Jorginho, Willian, and David Luiz at the Emirates.

Madueke joined Chelsea from PSV Eindhoven in 2023 for £29 million and scored 20 goals in 92 appearances. He played a key role in the Blues’ UEFA Conference League win last season and their Club World Cup success in the United States.

Speaking after the move, Madueke revealed conversations with Arsenal stars helped sway his decision: “I’ve spoken to Declan Rice, Myles, Bukayo, even Jurrien as well and they all say amazing things about the club and the culture here.”

He added: “To win all the competitions we’re in… I feel like we’re definitely capable of doing that.”

His exit comes as Chelsea continue to overhaul their attack, recently adding Liam Delap, Joao Pedro, and Jamie Gittens from Ipswich Town, Brighton, and Borussia Dortmund.
