Banyana Banyana began their campaign with a 2-0 win over Ghana, drew 1-1 with Tanzania, and hammered Mali 4-0 in their final group match. In the quarterfinal, they played a goalless draw against Senegal and advanced with a 4-1 victory in the penalty shootout.
