South East Group Backs Tinubu for 2027, Cites Eastern Rail Line, Development Projects

Date:

A regional socio-political group, the South East Renewed Hope Agenda (SERHA), has declared its support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027, vowing to mobilise massive grassroots support across the South East.

Speaking at the inauguration and empowerment event of the Imo State chapter in Owerri, SERHA National Coordinator Michael Enwere said the group’s endorsement stems from the Tinubu administration’s renewed infrastructural focus on the region, particularly the $3 billion Eastern Rail Line recently approved by the Federal Government.

Enwere described the project as a historic step toward reconnecting the South East with the rest of the country, noting its potential to reduce transport costs, spur exports, and revive dormant industrial zones.

“This is the first time any administration has budgeted such a huge fund for a transport project in the South East,” Enwere said. “It signals a major policy and economic shift aimed at addressing decades of infrastructural neglect.”

He also commended the creation of the South East Development Commission (SEDC) and the N150 billion South East Investment Company as signs of a sincere commitment to regional growth and inclusion under Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

According to Enwere, the group will begin a tour of all 95 local government areas and 2,344 wards across the South East next month to galvanise support ahead of the 2027 polls.

“This is the turn of Southern Nigeria to complete our eight years,” he said. “We have only one performing President, and the South East will not back out.”

Imo State Coordinator, Chief Justus Ogu, also applauded the administration’s commitment to the region, citing improvements in federal roads, access to student loans, and the appointment of several Igbo leaders to key federal positions.

He said the SEDC, if properly managed, would help address longstanding infrastructure gaps and ensure sustained development in the zone.

“We are ready and committed to delivering increased support and massive votes for President Tinubu’s re-election,” Ogu said.
