Nigerian comedian Seyi Law has called out music duo P-Square for what he described as their inconsistent political stance, accusing them of hypocrisy in their recent criticism of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
During an interview with media personality Teju BabyFace, Seyi Law expressed disappointment over the backlash he received from colleagues in the entertainment industry for backing Tinubu during the 2023 general elections. He singled out P-Square for allegedly shifting political allegiances based on personal preferences.
“The same people who are against the APC today once danced on the stage when Buhari was inaugurated,” he said, referring to P-Square’s 2015 performance of their hit song E No Easy during former President Muhammadu Buhari’s inauguration.
Seyi Law argued that the duo, who supported Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi in 2023, had once aligned with the All Progressives Congress (APC) and should not now pretend to be above political affiliations.
He added, “Sometimes these our same colleagues that come out to wave an umbrella today or somehow start to wave cock today or another political party are actually not saints.”
The comedian also challenged the idea that former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo would have received broader support had he been chosen as APC’s presidential candidate instead of Tinubu. “Stop being hypocrite because all of you knew that if APC had brought Osinbajo, you would have used the badge of Buhari to defeat him,” he claimed.
The comments have sparked further conversation online about celebrity involvement in politics and the perceived double standards within the entertainment industry.
