The streets of Lagos erupted in celebration on Tuesday as the Super Falcons staged a colourful parade with the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) trophy, sharing their victory with jubilant fans.
Fresh off receiving national honours from President Bola Tinubu—including the Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON)—the nine-time African champions were met with an outpouring of love as they toured the city in a victory convoy. The players were greeted with cheers, vibrant drumming, and energetic dancing as they made their way through major landmarks.
The parade was both a celebration of their triumph and a heartfelt gesture of gratitude to Nigerian supporters whose passionate backing helped propel the team to continental glory.
From Surulere to Marina, thousands lined the streets to catch a glimpse of their football heroes, waving flags and singing along to popular tunes. The atmosphere was electric, turning the city into a carnival of national pride and unity.
The Super Falcons’ 2024 WAFCON win solidified Nigeria’s dominance in women’s football and reaffirmed their place as Africa’s most successful female team.
