Nigerian billionaire socialite and entrepreneur, Obinna Oyiegbu, popularly known as Obi Cubana, has seemingly addressed the viral TikTok video by his adopted first son, Chidi, in which the latter claimed to be his “next of kin.”
Chidi’s post, which quickly gained attention, featured him confidently stating, “Nothing do my shoulder, I just realize say I be next of kin.” The video sparked curiosity and debate among social media users, with many interpreting it as a bold or humorous move.
In what appeared to be a subtle response, Obi Cubana took to Instagram to share a photo of himself alongside his biological son, Alex. He captioned it, “Ancient and modern, eyes on the ball. @dtwalx aka next of kin.” Alex responded in the comments, “Using my headphones right now,” to which Obi Cubana replied, “Correct boy, original next-of-kin.”
The post drew mixed reactions online, with some users criticizing the businessman for handling a sensitive family matter in the public eye.
An X user, @Abazwhyllzz, wrote, “Unnecessary. He should have told the guy to delete on TikTok, then solved it internally instead of coming to post sha.”
Another, @Soyecatherings, commented, “I don’t think he thought of the consequences in the long run. This wasn’t the best way to address it sha.”
Some, however, defended Chidi, calling the video harmless and accusing the public of reading too much into it.
