President Bola Tinubu has ordered the immediate relocation of the Office of the Surveyor-General of the Federation to the Presidency.
The directive, announced during the 150th National Economic Council (NEC) meeting at the State House in Abuja, is aimed at fast-tracking the execution of key national infrastructure projects.
According to a statement by Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications, the move is designed to enhance planning, geospatial coordination, and timely delivery of critical projects such as the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and the Sokoto-Badagry Super Highway.
President Tinubu said placing the Surveyor-General’s office directly under the Presidency would eliminate bureaucratic obstacles and improve oversight of strategic development initiatives.
“We must break away from bottlenecks. Our legacy projects are too important to be slowed down. We’re taking direct control to ensure results,” the President stated.
