Chairman of the Senate Committee on Army, Senator Abdulaziz Musa Yar’Adua, has debunked claims that he is planning to leave the All Progressives Congress (APC), reaffirming his loyalty to the ruling party and President Bola Tinubu.
In a statement released on Sunday, the Katsina-born lawmaker described media reports suggesting his defection as “false, misleading and mischievous.”
“I remain a loyal and committed member of the APC,” Yar’Adua stated. “These reports are nothing more than political mischief designed to sow confusion and disunity. I am focused on legislative duties and working with my colleagues to support the agenda of the APC-led federal government.”
He also cautioned the public against assuming political connections based solely on his last name, noting that not every person bearing the Yar’Adua surname is affiliated with him politically.
The senator, who also chairs the Northern Senators Forum, praised President Tinubu’s performance, citing increased revenue allocation to states and local governments, improved infrastructure investments, and expanded security recruitment as signs of progress.
“As political leaders, it is our duty to support the President’s reforms to ensure the ordinary Nigerian feels their impact,” he said. “I will continue to work across party lines to promote unity, progress, and prosperity for our nation.”
Yar’Adua’s comments come amid a series of political alignments ahead of the 2027 elections, and are seen as a move to quell rumours and reinforce stability within the APC.
