2027: APC Scribe Tells El-Rufai to Stop Distracting Tinubu, Find a Job

Date:

National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Ajibola Basiru, has criticised former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, over recent remarks urging Nigerians to reject the APC in the 2027 elections.

Basiru, speaking on Sunday, advised El-Rufai to find more productive engagements instead of launching political attacks, stressing that the next general election is still two years away.

“Why is he in a hurry? 2027 is far away. The guidelines for the 2027 elections won’t be out until February 2026. El-Rufai should go and find a job,” Basiru said.

His comments follow El-Rufai’s weekend address to African Democratic Congress (ADC) supporters in Sokoto, where the former governor criticised President Bola Tinubu’s administration and pledged to mobilise Nigerians to vote out the APC in 2027.

In response, Basiru said El-Rufai should focus on personal development and allow the President and the APC to concentrate on governance.

“He can go back to school to enrich his knowledge or play with his grandchildren. We are too busy fixing our party, and Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is busy with governance. He should not distract us,” Basiru added.

The exchange adds to rising political tension as new coalitions and opposition movements begin to take shape ahead of the next electoral cycle.
