Nigeria’s D’Tigress have solidified their status as the queens of African women’s basketball, clinching a historic fifth consecutive FIBA Women’s AfroBasket title with a 78–64 win over Mali in the final.
The dominant performance on Sunday in Abidjan saw the Nigerian team become the first in Africa to claim five titles in a row. The win also extended their remarkable unbeaten streak in the tournament to 29 games, a run that began in 2015.
D’Tigress’ relentless defence and teamwork overwhelmed Mali, as they powered through all stages of the competition to secure their seventh overall title.
