Novak Djokovic has withdrawn from this week’s ATP Cincinnati Masters, tournament officials confirmed on Monday.
The decision comes exactly a year after the Serbian star claimed Olympic gold in Paris, and means the 38-year-old will not play any matches between his Wimbledon semi-final loss to Jannik Sinner and the upcoming US Open.
With his absence, Djokovic—who first competed in Cincinnati in 2005 and won the tournament in 2023—will miss valuable match practice ahead of the year’s final Grand Slam.
World number one Jannik Sinner, along with Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz, also skipped the ongoing ATP Toronto Masters to recover post-Wimbledon. However, Sinner has already arrived in Cincinnati and shared a photo from a golf course, suggesting a relaxed lead-up to the tournament.
Djokovic, a 24-time Grand Slam champion, has claimed three titles in Cincinnati, despite losing five finals there earlier in his career.
