May Edochie Sues Ex-Lawyer for ₦1bn Over Defamation, Cyberbullying

Date:

May Edochie, the estranged wife of Nollywood actor Yul Edochie, has filed a legal case against her former lawyer, Emeka Ugwuonye, accusing him of cyberbullying, defamation, and cyberstalking.

In a cease-and-desist notice issued by her legal representatives, Graylaw Partners, May alleged that Ugwuonye repeatedly made damaging social media posts about her. The letter stated that his actions went beyond defamation, describing them as ridicule, harassment, and malicious attacks that endangered her safety.

“These posts are a calculated assault on our client’s reputation and have further imperiled her safety through malicious threats and false allegations. Beyond your own publications, you have incited third parties to amplify these communications, causing her severe and irreparable harm,” the letter read in part.

May is demanding that Ugwuonye immediately stop publishing defamatory content, retract previous posts, and issue a public apology across all platforms. She is also seeking ₦1 billion in damages as compensation.

The notice further warned that failure to comply could lead to additional legal action.
