Afrobeats artist Iyanya has addressed accusations that he is picking sides in the ongoing rivalry between his colleagues, Wizkid and Davido.
The dispute between the two superstars reignited last year, and Iyanya, who previously collaborated with Wizkid on the hit track ‘Sexy Mama,’ was recently accused of favoring Davido after publicly supporting his music.
An X user (@Akubasteeny) pointed out the apparent shift in Iyanya’s loyalty, writing, “I thought Wiz was your friend. I am just wondering why you switched side and turned into Davido’s boy.”
In response, Iyanya clarified that he harbors no ill will toward any artist. He emphasized that he supports Wizkid just as much as he supports other artists in the industry, stating that he plays their music in the same way he enjoys tracks from a wide range of artists.
He added, “Most artistes will not say this, artistes are the first to listen to other artistes’ projects when they drop. It’s our job to know what’s happening in the game in terms of sound.” Iyanya also noted that fans often fuel unnecessary rivalry between artists, stating, “Na una fans dey try dey push agenda wey no dey.”
Iyanya’s comments reflect his stance on unity in the music industry, encouraging fans to stop creating divisions between artists.
