Jude Okoye, the former manager of the defunct music group P-Square, has been released from the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) after spending two months in detention.
Okoye, along with his company, Northside Music Limited, faced seven counts of charges related to money laundering. His release was confirmed by his brother, Paul Okoye, better known as Rudeboy of P-Square, who shared videos on Instagram welcoming Jude back home.
Paul wrote, “Jude is finally out after 2 months + .. all their efforts to frustrate his bail have finally collapsed. Welcome home brother #judeengees. And happy birthday. Welcome back blood.”
The legal troubles stem from accusations made by Peter Okoye (Mr P), Jude’s twin brother and former bandmate, who testified against him in the Federal High Court. Peter claimed that Jude had secretly registered a new company in his wife’s name to divert royalties that rightfully belonged to P-Square.
The case has been adjourned to June 4 for cross-examination.
